I am a mother of 2 young adult children and a grandmother. I have changed careers into the healthcare industry only to find out that my lack of experience is keeping me from employment. My mortgage and ultities are in the rear I have no monies left to pay or even promise to pay anything or anyone. My mother and sister who is also an unemployed school teacher with a masters degree is seeking employment have been keeping my family and I from being homeless. I have paid taxes for so many years and now I am in need of assistance no one is able to help. Social Service will not assit because I own a home and vehicle why should I not be allowed to have these things when I have worked so hard for so many years. Our system is backwards and unjust. I am not looking for a hand out just a stepping stone until I can get more experience under my belt only to have taxes taken from me again to help a family in need. Our laws in the state of Georgia really need assistance for times have changed but the "good old boys" want to keep it back in slave times...Let's catch up we all need a hand at some point in our lives....There is no shame in that. I only receive $720.00 per month for SS. I paide a repair man to check my a/c 150.00 to tell me it's 20 years old that's why It dosen't put out more air, and that's why I am paying so much on my electric bill. It doesn't help that I have 2 broken windows. I have night mares that I going to melt or have a heart attack It was 110 today. I went to the library yesterday and to day, I am going to the Stat Employment office tomorrow to get some relief my bill came tody I did't open it ! untill the 3rd of the month. I am SUFFERING PLEASE HELP ME. I live in a 110 to 117 degree climate. My heating and air conditioner is one unit, He said that I need Insulation in the walls and in the ceilings. I spent all my life savings installing the leaking roof. I worked 15 years and I only receive 720. SS. I raised a fine Young Ladie and worked 2 jobs when she was college single handed. I tried and tried to get employment but no one want an old bag to work for them. I do office work and a waitress, I am dam good at both jobs and I like and want to work.
